Collages

The themes I hoped these pieces would convey were the unconscious, nurturing, motherhood, tenderness, vulnerability, life cycles, and the natural world.

An on going series, that began in early 2017, when I started experimenting with collaging. Rather than using found images I created my own watercolour paintings of animals, plants, moons, and other images. I would then cut out each painted object to use as layering pieces. I would initially mount watercolour paper onto a wood panel to create my surface (allowing the finished piece to be hung without a frame) and then glue on the painted cutouts in layers. These pieces tend to take a longer amount of time as there are multiple layers that need to adhere and be pressed flat.
